Falcons Top Junior Meet; Dump Rams in Finale 54-45

The Rhein-Main Falcons captured the seventh annual Ramstein Junior High School Invitational Basketball Tournament here Saturday and Sunday by outing Tamstein’s Junior Rams, 54-45.

The Junior Rams, ahead at half-time by two points, were snowed under by a 22-point Falcon third quarter and had to settle for second place.

High point player for the game was Randy Fountain.  He totaled 18 for the Falcons.  Kevin Donoghue for John CLiff tallied 13 each for the locals.

Wiesbaden finished third in the single elimination meet with an overwhelming 58-28 victory over Kaiserslautern.

Fountain was also voted the Tournament’s “most valuable player.” THe Bitburg Barons received the award for team sportsmanship.

Col. Frank X. Krebs, base commander and honorary tournament chairman, presented the awards immediately following the championship game.
